Island hideaways or cosmopolitan harbors, the spirit of expedition sailing is invariably linked to the people, places and passion that make up the mix – guests and crew alike. And now, Atlas Ocean Voyages goes one step further, with unique, year-round cultural expeditions delivering myriad experiences that will leave guests enriched and inspired.
This is your chance to immerse yourself in the natural splendor, cultural icons and local cuisines of some of the world’s most captivating destinations aboard luxurious, polar-class yachts. The Atlas small-group shore visits explore local traditions, art and architecture, history and landscapes that make each sailing a series of fascinating excursions.

Atlas helps you reach for the stars
Atlas is also giving guests the opportunity to enjoy astronomical exploration via stargazing activities led by top scientists. Expedition teams on Atlas Northern Europe expeditions include a host of onboard experts that bring the Atlas Focus Lab Stargazing and Astronomy programming to life. Itineraries include stargazing workshops and astronomy talks led by renowned astronomers and filmmakers.
Witness the Milky Way from remote parts of the planet, away from light pollution, and view the cosmos with advanced telescopes out on deck. Engage in conversation and listen to lectures on space exploration, history and modern astronomy. The stars and the sea have gone hand in hand since the earliest days of ocean navigation, and now, Atlas rekindles this connection.
Noted astronomer and astrophotographer Jonathan Ward is the guest aboard three Northern Europe Atlas autumn sailings on World Voyager. A member of the Royal Astronomical Society and a NASA Solar System Ambassador, he has written four space history books, some of which are in development to be made into films. He will be sharing the latest developments in space travel while leading workshops and stargazing sessions throughout the trips.
Celebrated astronomer and author Charles Barclay is aboard a 12-night voyage from Edinburgh to Trondheim in June. He is at the forefront of astronomy education and outreach in the United Kingdom, lecturing on a range of astrophysics and astronomy topics internationally.
An 8-night September sailing on World Traveler from Reykjavik to Dublin features author and night-sky advocate Amy Paredes Jackson, as well as the writer/director and cinematographer of the documentary The Stars at Night, Elizabeth Buckley and Jonathan Jackson. The film uncovers the connection between astronomy, mythology and storytelling.
Every Atlas expedition sets a new standard
In addition to the unique cultural experiences and astronomy engagement, Atlas guests can always rely on exceptional gourmet dining, fine wines and spirits, 24-hour room service and butler pampering throughout their journeys aboard the World Voyager and World Traveler.
