Cunard® Line: A New Era of Grill Suites

By Tully Luxury Travel | 07-17-2024 |

Cruise

They are without doubt the most exclusive and the most lavish accommodations available on any Cunard® ship. And taking into consideration that we’re talking about the Queen Anne®, Queen Elizabeth®, Queen Victoria® and Queen Mary 2®, this is saying a lot.

We speak, of course, of the famous Grill Suites, which have been known for many years as the best cruise experience for those with the finest tastes. Since their first ocean cruise in 1840, Cunard has always epitomized elegance. It is now well-known for its relaxed level of luxury, featuring all the grace of classic ocean liners alongside ultra-luxurious modern amenities. With the introduction of the line’s Queens Grill Suites and Princess Grill Suites, they have raised the bar even higher.

Both tiers of accommodation come with the highest level of comfort, including the personalized service of an attentive butler. These are large spaces to enjoy – space to really relax – with separate sleeping and living areas, grand style, eye-catching art and crisp linens. The furnishings, textures and colors exude the nostalgia of the golden era of sailing, a nod to the past with an eye on the future of cruise comfort. Expect walk-in closets, marble bathrooms and luxe amenities – rest assured, Cunard has thought of everything.

Grill Suite guests also enjoy access to their corresponding exclusive Grill restaurants – the Queens Grill and Princess Grill, with in-suite dining from both to match, and room service available 24 hours. Access to the Grills Lounge and Grills Terrace is also part of the plan, including the special Grills Courtyard on the Queen Victoria® and Queen Elizabeth®. Use of a dedicated concierge service for on-board reservations and shore experiences is also part of the package.

This is where we dig a bit deeper into the added perks of those traveling in the elevated Queens Grill Suites. You are completely looked after here, with each day curated to your exact wishes. Additional elements include your own table in the Queens Grill restaurant, along with pre-dinner canapés served in-suite. You also enjoy fresh flowers, binoculars, a complimentary minibar and priority tender services.

An experience enriched from the past

The concept of the Grill Suite germinated years ago, starting with Cunard’s first Grill Room aboard the Aquitania, in service for more than 35 years. This steak-forward restaurant did not come with an extra charge, but was instead available as a private dining room for those traveling in first class. Those passengers were then said to be staying in the “grill” suites, and the name has been carried forward to the present day, the concept evolving to suit the needs of today’s elite passengers.

Looking back, it’s safe to say that the it was the aura of these restaurants that made them truly special. Following the first one, Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth’s® Steakhouse at the Verandah were very popular, offering a high level of service, a diverse menu and a club-like atmosphere – as if you were dining in a private room rather than a grand-scale main dining room. As such, they were a hit with celebrities who wanted more privacy, and now offer an intimate experience to Cunard’s Queens Grill Suite and Princess Grill Suite guests.

This is your private residence at sea

The Tully Travel Designers are able to work their magic for you with Cunard. Grill Suite passengers also have exclusive access to private lounges and deck areas, invitations to exclusive events, priority reservations, and priority embarkation and disembarkation, of course.

You will want for nothing – and that has been the plan all along.
