Seabourn: The Pursuit of Expedition Excellence
By Tully Luxury Travel | 07-12-2024 |
It’s fitting that the newest ship from Seabourn has a name that mirrors the true meaning of expedition sailing. The purpose-built, ultra-luxury Seabourn Pursuit is in the water, ready to indulge your quest for adventure in Antarctica, the South Pacific and Kimberley in Western Australia.
This sister ship to the Seabourn Venture, which was Seabourn’s first expedition vessel, has a yacht-like atmosphere and incredible design details, yet it is also constructed with top-of-the-line hardware and technology to meet the demands of the task at hand – namely, making sure you have the most incredible journey possible.
In a significant milestone move for the international cruise community as a whole, Seabourn has appointed the Wunambal Gaambera Traditional Owners as godparents of the Seabourn Pursuit. They are an Indigenous Australian people of the northern Kimberley region of Western Australia. This special partnership will underline Seabourn’s commitment to the environments and the communities that Seabourn ships visit, along with a continuing dedication to sustainable tourism.
Seabourn exceeds all guest expectations
Believe it or not, a Seabourn Expedition is designed to suit many different types of travelers. Seabourn transcends age demographics to deliver on bucket list dreams to everyone in comfort and style. With 132 sumptuous ocean-front veranda suites and ample, luxurious public space, the Pursuit is designed and built for diverse environments to PC6 Polar Class standards. And yet the opulence and the extended capabilities are merely half the story: the ship also carries with it two custom-built submarines, 24 Zodiac skiff boats and 8 double-sea kayaks. As well, a world-class 24-person Expedition Team is on board to deliver beyond-immersive experiences, guiding you through the entire journey. Guests will take part in curated daily shore excursions and cultural tours, Zodiac cruises, hikes and nature walks, and snorkeling and even scuba diving outings, all included complimentary. You connect deeply within the environment with the very best, experienced naturalists and scientists.
Down-time is supported by Michelin-level chefs who bring their skill, passion and personal travel inspiration to life in the way of eight different dining options on Seabourn Pursuit, providing international taste sensations, even including a sushi bar at The Club. Complimentary Seabourn Moments include the famous Seabourn Polar Plunge, along with an intriguing and delicious Caviar on Ice experience, similar to Seabourn’s very popular Caviar in the Surf. When you wrap this all up with intuitive, personalized service, you have a luxury cruise vacation you will never forget.
Sharing a unique Indigenous cultural heritage
The appointing of the Wunambal Gaambera Traditional Owners as godparents of the Seabourn Pursuit marks the first time a cruise line has embarked on such a commitment. They are the owners of a region in the Kimberley that includes the sea country of Ngula Jar Island (Vansittart Bay) and Yirinni (Hunter River), along with the freshwater country of Ngauwudu (Mitchell Plateau). These ideal ambassadors bring their rich cultural history and deep connection to the land and sea to the Pursuit.
Seabourn will be working with the Wunambal Gaambera Traditional Owners as they exhibit their Uunguu Experience – the sharing of Wanjina Wunggurr culture through welcome and smoking ceremonies, rock art tours, junba song and dance, and stories from the Uunguu Rangers who help keep the region healthy.
