It’s a name that has become the epitome of ultra-luxury cruising. The gold standard that is Silversea continues to climb higher into the stratosphere of oceangoing refinement. This is a rarified air of “whispered luxury,” a state of simplistic elegance.
With the launch of Silversea's Silver Nova, the cruise line has not only introduced a new class of ship, but also a signal of things to come, the Silversea vision for the future – and objectives that will take the DNA of luxury cruising to the next level.
A new way of achieving balance
Silversea always seems to be one step ahead, with its unique brand of luxury, comprehensive Otium wellness program and the introduction of unique features that offer guests a deeper connection to the destination.
The Silver Nova, the first in the new Nova Class of vessel for Silversea, fine-tunes this proficiency with a unique asymmetrical design. Rather than the halves of the ship mirroring each other, Silver Nova plays with proportion. As a result, a noticeable openness is created, most obvious with the pool deck at the top of the ship. Pushed to the starboard side, the pool lends an unobstructed connection with the sea and with the destination, ringed with beyond-generous lounge space. Silver Nova’s asymmetry also adds noticeable privacy, with nooks and crannies to get lost in, private spaces of sun or shelter and surprises around every corner.
An open window on the world
One other way Silver Nova invites the guest closer to the destination is with the acres of glass wrapping around the entire ship. More than 95% of the interior spaces have an outdoor view. Floor-to-ceiling windows are a standard element of every suite and six glass elevators lend an almost dizzying view to the ocean and ports of call. This is the only ship at sea with 100% glass elevators. Even the Venetian Lounge, the ship's main entertainment theater, has windows, a welcome addition to afternoon presentations.
The more spacious environment on Silver Nova can also be linked to the concentration of public areas on specific decks all their own with no staterooms, allowing for higher ceilings, a bigger theater, an expansive atrium and an even greater sense of openness.
A continuous culinary experience
Silversea’s celebrated Sea and Land Taste culinary program (S.A.L.T.) continues aboard Silver Nova, telling the stories of the destinations you visit via the regional gastronomy.
The S.A.L.T. Lab cooking classes showcase the foodways of the regions the ship sails to, with the S.A.L.T. Kitchen restaurant following suit, offering locally inspired menus that change with the itinerary. The result is an authenticity – of flavors, recipes, ingredients, even wines – that draws guests even further into the cultural heritage of the destination. A new S.A.L.T. Chef’s Table experience was introduced with Silver Nova, offering guests a tasting menu of 10-plus courses, again anchored to the gastronomy of the region.
The food doesn’t stop there: Chef-led shore excursions to food markets, famous restaurants, bakeries, farms, distilleries, wineries and more round out the gastronomic experience. Since its inception, the S.A.L.T. program has been adapted to more than 60 countries around the world on three continents.
